Made this for a July office birthday party. I tried first with the watermelon rind side down but the fondant pulled the cake apart so I had to flip it. The cake is frosted in white buttercream with red fondant squares. I used a half round pan for the watermelon with an added a round layer then I cut in half for the quarter watermelon appearance. The ants were black fondant with black lace licorice for legs and antennas.
