My Latin Lady

I created this cake for my husband's school auction! The theme was Bailemos (Latin for "Dance"). It raised $600 and was served at the auction dinner that evening. It was 15 layers of vanilla butter cake (filled with butterfinger buttercream and chocolate ganache), stacked and carved. The top shoulders/neck were RKT molded by hand. It was my biggest cake ever!! The base was fondant scored and painted to look like wood. The shoes were modeling chocolate. The Latin Lady stood about 42"H and was suspended above the board about 15". I couldn't even fit it into my van!!!! My sweet sweet friend Summer (Summerki) was over to help since I radically hurt my back the night before, so she and my husband drove it downtown to the auction just to make it in the nick of time! It was amazing!! Thanks Summer for your help - I couldn't have finished it without you!!
