This cake was for a bar-mitzvah boy who loves baseball and the Yankees. The Yankee baseball cap on top of a home plate surrounded with some "dirt". The cake is chocolate with vanilla caramel buttercream. It was my first time making a hat. I cut up one on my husbands old hats to use as a template for the visor, It helped but it was a bit off, next time i'll have to adjust the visor or trim out some of the cake. The dirt is a combination of white sugar, brown sugar, instant coffee granules and chocolate cake that took a trip in the food processor. The baseball is a super-sized cake truffle, which in my world, is cake scraps mixed with BC formed into a ball. I covered it in BC then fondant. and ices in royal icing.
