This cake was modeled after the Hermes Birkin Handbag. It was requested in red and I decided to use an alligator texture on the bag. The cake was a bit rushed b/c I had other orders on the same day, so the gumpaste handles did not have time to dry completely :-( Thanks to megannell who's construction advice i followed and it turned out really stable. I assembled it using 3 teirs w/ dowels, then cakeboard, then another 3 layers and a dowel through the entire cake. The flavor was red velvet with Hershey chocolate buttercream.
