I borrowed some icing tips from a friend a little over a year ago, and decided on a whim to make a carved cake. Maybe I was a little heady from watching too many episodes of Ace of Cakes, but I thought I'd give it a try! I hadn't done a cake since Jr High (OVER ten years ago), but I was pleased with the results! I used homemade buttercream on most of the cake, but the "grapes" are colored white chocolate covered mini marshmallows. My favorite part was the two-tone ribbon I managed to remember how to do!
