Mouse And The Moon

As much as I hate real mice, this cake is one of my all-time favorites! My cute little mouse was inspired by a figurine I saw in a magazine. Designed for a cake competition many years ago, this cake was created with a midnight blue fondant base consisting of a sheet cake and a half-round cake. The moon was carved from another round cake and covered with buttercream. The mouse was carved from the scraps and given fondant feet, ears and tail. It won first in it's category and Best of Division

The gumpaste stars on the cloud and the tiny piped stars on the border were painted with gold dust. The board is covered with gold foil.
