Valentines Day Cake
This has be one of the most frusterating cakes I have every done. The icing consistency was horrible so I could not do roses as originally planned and instead ended up doing brush embroidary which was a process in itself considering the fact that the icing dried so fast that I could not get it pull forward which is why it's only smeared. Also when I was doing the brush embroidary I accidentally bumped the cake and half of string work fell off and I had to start over. Overall even though it's definately not what I envisioned I still think it came out pretty cute.

I love this...your brush embroidery is better then I could ever do!!! your stringwork is very even and your border is beautiful!!! I think the reason why your border looks off is that the plate is curved up maybe? Causing them not to be perfect...but BEAUTIFUL cake!!!!! (my fav. color ;) )

critique subgroup member: I love the color and think it's presented nicely. The brush embroidery is subtle, yet pretty. The string work looks even and nice. I see some inconsistencies in the bottom shell border. That's probably due to the difficult icing. Overall, it is a very pretty cake. Sorry it gave you fits.
Critique subgroup member: You are being way to hard on yourself! Yourstringwork is perfectly spaced and pretty. Your brushed embroidery turned out nicely. It is difficult when what you see in your head is not what come out onto the cake board. :D Overall this is a very pretty cake and done well! (P.S. I never use shortening icing either as I hate the taste and the smell also :( )
Critique Group Member: Umm, I think this is gorgeous!! It's very simple and pretty. Only thing I see wrong is that the bottom border is a tad bit off, as jadak has already stated. I think this great though!!
Love the brush embroidery. I still want to find a cake that I can try it on. Looks pretty to me!
