Christmas

This is 8X8 vanilla cake with cookies and cream filling. Everything (except for the wires in Cindy Lou Who's head) is edible. The fireplace is RKT covered in fondant. The Grinch, Cindy Lou Who, presents, cookies, mug, stockings, bags and candy canes are fondant. The tree is a sugar cone covered in fondant with candy and icing decorations. Most everything is hand painted. I made this just to kind of see if I could. :) I welcome ANY comments! (GALLERY SUPPORT MEMBER) TIA

critique group member: You know- I wasn't paying any attention to whether or not it is an outside or inside scene- I happen to think that it all blends well. I mean, this is fairy tale. It could be outside and still work just as well. Your design on the sides is a great touch. I agree that grinch's neck is a little long- your painting is well done

Critique subgroup member: You have a ton of patience. All the attention to detail is phenomenal. Quite a big undertaking and you did it.

Critique group submember: Oh my goodness I don't know how I missed this when I was looking for ideas, but this is magnificant modeling work. I really can't find anything to comment on except to be very nit-picky and say that perhaps since this is obviously an inside scene, you could have made the floor wood or some other inside flooring. Other than that, it's awesome! :D :D

critique group submember: Love the vinette. Cake board is wonderful, your attention to detail great, like the plate of cookies. Oh thinking the fireplace logs need a bit of work to not look like doo-doo lol. Grinch's neck is a little long but other then that you modeling is wonderful! As you stated your border needed work but overall this cake is a two thumbs up! ;-D ;-D I bet they adored it.

critique subgroup member: I can only imagine how many hours went into this cake. Great fondant work. My only question would be, Is this to be an outside scene? icing looks textured like snow? If outside scene then fireplace is out of place and if inside scene, snowy floor is out of place? overall, JOB WELL DONE!

Thanks for the comments. The darn floor! With all the other elements, it became an after thought. In retrospect, I think I'd do choc. bc and make the floor look like wood or make a big fondant rug or something. I agree...that "floor" needed improvement.

Critique group member: This is really cute. I think you did a nice job. I agree about the floor. It doesn't seem to fit with the scene. Other than that, it's great. I know you weren't happy with the border, but even with the imperfections, it's cute!

Critue group member: I love this idea! Like the others said I would make the grinches neck a little smaller and definately get rid of the snowfloor. Great job!

Critique group member: Fantatsic job with the handpaining, that is something I am still no good at. The characters are adorable and the extra touches like the stickings on the fireplace are great. I can see what everyone else said so I won't repeat, but I still think this turned out wonderful

critique group member. I love the overall theme of this cake, it's adorable. My suggestions are to make the top smooth and maybe a different color..to look more like a floor. Grinchs neck is a bit to long but he turned out great. Also I think the bottom border could be a bit smaller so that it doesnt take away from the snowflakes. Great cake, I love all the little details you put into it.

Critique Group Member: Wow I can't imaging how long this took. Now you know you can do it :D . One great thing about our group is that we each notice different things. I never noticed that the snowscene didn't fit  . That makes us good for each other. Anyway, as for my critique, try to get the packages more square (not all but most). And also for the snowflake sides, add a little corn syrup to the icing to make them smoother. Also, tap the ends with your finger to get rid of the points.
