Sorry to hear that it didn't work....that can be so frustrating! I used a white cake....just the no-name brand. It always works and tastes great. Maybe try a pound cake mix next time. I always bake the cake and remove the pan about 10 minutes later and then let it rest in one of the pans overnight so it's completely cooled. Good Luck!
