I made this cake for my best friend's son for his graduation. It is my second tiered and fondant cake. The school mascot is the Thunderhawk and the colors are purple and gold. (The school never actually uses gold because of the cost. So technically, the colors are purple and yellow!). I made the Thunderhawk talons to grip a diploma, rather than making a whole hawk. I thought it would look more fierce and be more fitting for an 18 year old boy.
