I'm a cake decorator in the thumb of Michigan :) I was wondering if there was many other MI decorators on here? Also was wondering if many of you guys have done cake competitions? One of my goals for this year is to do at least one competition .......however, I don't seem to be finding much thats available in MI. Anyone have any tips or anything for getting started in competitions?

Where are you in the thumb?  I lived in Bad Axe for a couple years, now I live in Iowa. 

I went to culinary school at Schoolcraft College in Livonia. They had an excellent pastry program and would occasionally do compitions. You could check with someone from the college to see if there is anything available. 

I'm in Port Huron - I actually went to The Culinary Institute through Baker in Port Huron and graduated this fall :) I did a few competitions while I was in school - there is actually a couple a year that alumi can enter - I had planned on contacting them about maybe doing one or two :)
