I recall a recipe from someone for an icing that tasted like cream cheese.  I believe it used balsamic vinegar????  It was a crusting buttercream I believe.

I apologize for not copying the recipe when it was posted but if someone could repost that would be very helpful.

Go to the top of Cake Central and click on recipes. Scroll down, I think 4 recipes and you will see that recipe for basalmic vinegar frosting.

Thanks so much remnant3333!

Has anyone made this recipe with hi-ratio shortening?

I have never tried this recipe yet. I have never used hi ratio shortening but I am told that there is a new law that forces companies to stop putting trans fat even in the high ratio shortening. I always used crisco shortening.  If I made this, I would try it as it is written. If you try the shortening let us know how it turned out!!  It might work better to do 1/2 butter and 1/2 shortening. I am sure if someone has used the shortening, they will comment on this.
