I made a filling for my cake (my own recipe) and forgot to use arrowroot instead of cornstarch to thicken! Now I cannot freeze it with the cake because the cornstarch will cause it to separate and run.

It contains butter, sugar, egg and whipping cream and it was cooked. Will it last a week in my fridge???

Really don't want to waste it or make it again...this is a b-day cake for my Mom who's coming for a visit

TIA!

did you test it -- take a blob of it and freeze it overnight thaw it and see how you like it -- i've made fruit fillings with cornstarch that worked out ok -- whipping cream just whipped and folded in? idk -- hope it works but test it if you haven't already -- and no i would not serve it to guests after a week no -- a coupla days at most -- it will not be at it's best in a week anyway -- and likely could have separated by then anyhow don't you think
