Hi guys, 

I was wondering if you can help me, a customer has shown me a picture they love of a cake pop tower that they want something similar. (pic below)

The tower is in gold and black and I wondered if anyone knew what I could use to colour the gold pops like the picture to make them look so metallic.

I've tried luster dust and edible paints but it just doesn't look the same:

Sadly, those gold balls are covered in plastic craft glitter [disco dust], so they're inedible, but it makes a nice table decoration.  Disco dust isn't an approved food additive, so it's only for use on decorations that will be removed and not eaten.


For a smooth edible gold finish, there are lots of options, but no, they won't look like plastic glitter--but at least you can eat them.  This may help you find a good, edible gold product:
