I went out to buy some Orchid cutters and veiners at lunch time today, got carried away and ended up also coming back with a pack of metal cutters for the bearded Iris- though I couldn't find any veiners for it.

Trouble is that it only has 2 cutters in the pack and no instructions.  One looks like a petal and the other is the squiggly thingymajigy beardy in the middle (I am sure that it has a technical name but it escapes me).

I looked online and most packs seem to use at least 3 cutters and at least one veiner.......   stumped.  Does that mean that all the sepals and standards should be the same size for this one?

Also are there any veiners that would be good substitutes for the petals? Or should I just tool and frill the edges and indent a line in the centre of each petal to represent a vein?

I would greatly appreciate any advice that you can offer.

I am in Australia.

Thanks

I am surprised you have only 2 cutters, this company has one with 4.

Here's a tutorial for iris

http://evelynssugarlab.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/gumpaste-iris-tutorial.html  and she has a template, you could cut out from cardboard and use for the pieces missing.hth.

Yes I might have to try that. I couldn't figure out how to use just two. I really hate it when you get no instructions.

Thank heaps.
