AThey are made like your basic lego man shape but individually decorated to look like certain superheroes. This is a tutorial on how to make the lego man. Then you can decorate them accordingly. Goodluck! :)

AFor the cake, these are different sizes of square/rectangular cakes. Probably baked and cut from one rectangular cake. Then filled, iced and covered with fondant. Different colored fondant cut in rectangles and panelled and stuck to the cake to mimic lego blocks.

Then should I make 2 layers of fondant ? one underneath the blocks? I was thinking to fix the blocks directly on the butter cream..

ANo, you can add the fondant panels directly to the buttercream cake. Make sure your buttercream has crusted or isn't too soft and apply soft pressure only when adding the panels so the buttercream does not squeeze in between.
