My soon-to-be niece has asked me to make this cake for her wedding only with white fondant, royal blue ribbon and royal blue flowers (I know. I know :?).  At least she doesn't want the fondant to be royal blue!

The gumpaste flowers are no problem for me, but I've never done them in a spray like this.  I'm thinking this is maybe a mix of wired together bunches and some individual flowers. I'm happy to hear anyone's suggestions about this and if anyone knows of any videos showing this process I'd be forever grateful.  I've seen lots on how to make the flowers themselves, but can't find any on actually assembling the spray and attaching it to the cake.

But my two big questions are 1) can anyone take a guess at how many flowers that is (cake will the the same size as the picture)?  and 2) What's the best way to get them to be royal blue?  Will coloring the gumpaste ahead of time work or will they dry lighter?

Thanks in advance!
