I purchased edible inks and an edible printer. I have not installed the ink cartridges or setup of the printer for use yet, but I am concerned that once I use the printer, it will probably sit for a while before my next use. I read that you should run the printer at least once a week to keep the heads from clogging, but I don't have the space to let it sit out. I would like to purchase a plastic container to store the printer in between uses and put away in maybe a closet. I am a home baker, so it is not like I'm mass producing printed icing sheets. I just want to be able to preserve and use my printer whenever with minimal problems. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to store and preserve my inks and printer. I have the Canon MG5320 and inks and sheets from icing images.TIA.
Well, since no one has responded, I will share with you what I did. February 8th was the first time I used my edible ink printer and I used it again on March 27th. I did not run the printer once each week as suggested to keep the ink from drying out on the heads. I must say, it still printed fine without any issues. What I did was after each use, I covered the printer entirely with the plastic bag the printer came in from the manufacturer.
After replacing the heads on my printer twice in a year, and in between trying everything I could find on here and grilling my local printer guy, I give up and now outsource my images to another company nearby. Hope you have more success than me.
