AI made a red velvet cake from a recipe on divascancook and it turned more like brownies than a cake! What could have caused that? It's still got a good taste. I'm debating on whether I should call it red velvet cake or red velvet brownies though. Haha

hi,

Your red velvet cake turns into brownies, serious problem:grin:. I think it has to be baked till 5 minutes, you may be baked it longer.  That's why it turns into brownies. It taste good, brownies are really delicious. It is better to call it red velvet brownies.:)

AYou'll usually get a brownie texture if your weight ratio of sugar is higher than your weight ratio of flour. I googled the divascancook recipe, and the one I found does indeed have a higher ratio of sugar to flour. Although there are 2 cups of each, 2 cups of flour and 2 cups of sugar are not equal in terms of weight. 2 cups of sugar weigh approximately 400g. 2 cups of flour weigh approximately 255g.
