So I'm making a cake for my friends daughters 4th birthday party.

I'm trying to decide what would be easier to make and also to transport.

Either a small cake with a Minnie Hat for the birthday girl (either cake or RKT..not sure which), and cupcakes for everyone else, or large round cake with the hat on it (iced, not fondant covered for the cake)...

For me, cupcakes are easier to transport I think...

I've also heard that making the hat out of RKT makes it easier to stick the ears in with toothpicks or something.

I'm not an expert with RKT molding OR fondant but I'm willing to try either (I've done both once before)...

I guess I just need a second opinion...

So cute!

Did you cover the RKT hat with anything before you put fondant over it to smooth out the bumps of the rice krispies?

Thank you!  I covered it with royal icing, smooth it out then covered it. I know my piping needs work... but it was my 2nd cake I had ever made.
