Hi,
I want to make 2 cakes and stack them and make it look like presents for a 50th wedding anniversary. I want to make the bow and ribbons all Gold....I cannot find any color to color the fondant...I was thinking about the color spray, but have read it doesn't work so well. Anyone have any ideas what i can use???
Thank you!:)
Jennifer
I would make the bow out of white and then paint it.
For the paint I use "Old Gold Luster Dust " mixed with a touch of vodka
wow thanks for the quick reply!!!.....kids(mine i know will for sure) will most likely be eating the bow pieces...what other liquid can i use?...
you can use clear vanilla, you basically need the liquid which has the alcohol content high so that the alcohol evaporates and the color stays.
You can use anything that's quick drying. Any clear extract.
I always use vodka. The alcohol is not tasted at all. It sort of evaporates.
It's just a bow, and that miniscule amount is meaningless.
oh ok...I have never done this and want it to be really nice....Thanks so much for the info!:)
AI have used the pearl spray and it worked nicely, however, your piece should be dry and you should let it harden before you spray and leave it to dry before applying it to your cake.
Also the alcohol won't hurt anyone, it does just evaporate like L said :)
