I'm attempting to do a wine bottle in a crate cake for this coming weekend. I started a few days ago, I added about 1/2 tsp of tylose powder to about 250g (about 9oz) of ready to roll fondant, greased a wine bottle with crisco, dusted with corn starch and half covered it with my "gumpaste". I tried to take it off tonight and it just cracked and broke apart. It had been sitting for two days but was still pretty soft once it was off so I think either I didn't leave it long enough or I used too little tylose. I have two questions

how much tylose to you add? did I add too little?

how do I get the gumpaste off the wine bottle without it cracking???

Thanks. I'm wondering if maybe it would just be easier to carve a cake in the shape of the bottle and cover that with fondant.

I don't know about the measuremenst because I use the already make gum paste. But try covering the bottle with wax paper instead of the Crisco and corn starch. I've done that around an entire bottle to make cylinders before and it slid right off and then I just had to peel off the wax paper.
