I tried to make a Cat in the Hat hat this morning and it was a complete failure. It was my first attempt at doing an odd shaped cake and wasn't sure how to go about it. I used round cake layers and the top layer I offset it to give it the look of the top part of his hat. Well not long after I constructed it, the weight hanging off the side made the whole top part of the cake fall over. I've never shaped a cake before and have no idea how to go about doing it. Can anyone help? Thanks!
