Has anyone ever intended to make a cake of a certain size, say for 30 people, and ended up with a huge cake instead? I won't lose money on the cake, but it came out much bigger than I anticipated because I had to make an 8" tier to fit a fondant monkey on top. So the bottom layer is 10" by 3" and the top is 8" by 2". It's a cute cake but the customer is going to have some serious leftovers! It weighs a ton too! Oh well, living and learning.
AYes! I made a barrel a couple months ago, it was suppose to serve about 30, and I thought I would carve off a lot more than what I did. Make sure the client knows you made it too big, so they don't think your servings are too generous and order less cake next time.
