How do I make the ruffled fondant that I keep seeing on the side of that cake.     The cake looks like the fondant is wrapped around and curled out.

you described it perfectly--that's it exactly

 

or it it's buttercream it's pipe with a rose tube 'round & 'round

 

there's a craftsy video for the fondant version by maggie austin

 

if you go through the cake central board to get to craftsy you get a big discount

 

this on-line class could be as low as twenty bucks so click around here

 

but i'm sure if you just practice a bit on it --you'd get it no problem-o

 

you already described it

 

plus moisten the back of the ruffle to apply it

 

done
