I was looking into making my dad a glenfiddich cake for his birthday. He loves his scotch. Would I substitute scotch for the water ? and what flavour would best suit the flavour ? I was thinking a chocolate cake ???
Looking for ideas .. Any help would do !!
Are you talking about substituting the water in a cake recipe? I'm not quite clear on what you mean there. I think chocolate cake and scotch flavoured buttercream would be a lovely combination. You can just add scotch to your buttercream mix as the flavouring - just taste it every now and then as you mix to make sure it's not too overpowering.
Did the same sort of thing for a cake for my uncle with rum, i just made a chocolate cake, (a butter based one, oil made it too soggy overall) and then splashed over a few shots of rum into the cake as it was cooling, tasted great. I might have to try the a whisky cake myself this christmas! You don't need much whisky though if you do it this way, it doesnt cook off so stays pretty strong but just means you use less in the cake and more left to drink hope this helps.
Thanks for the help guys !! It's greatly appreciated!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS
