Hello, I am very new to decorating and I want to make a tall cake for my daughter's birthday. I am thinking of doing a round cake that is about 6 inches tall. I thought maybe 4 layers from 2 inch deep pans would be enough. Should I still torte them, or should i just use the layers as they are? Should I place some kind of support? I appreciate any tips, Thanks! icon_smile.gif

A 2 layer, filled cake, should be about 4 inches high. Maybe just 1 more layer will be sufficient. I would torte because I like the way it looks when the cake is cut. HTH
