I have been asked to do a tie dye cake for a girlfriend's bridal shower. While I am not crazy about the theme, I want to make it special for her. I am at a total loss for something that doesn't look tacky. I know I want to have nice big colorful flowers. But the tie dye part is killing me. For ideas I did a Google image search. I found this Colette cake online:

I like it because the tie dye is subtle and not obnoxious. What I need to know is, are the colors airbrushed on? In spots they look kind of sponged on, but I think she used an airbrush. I hate to buy Wilton spray on colors but I think that's what I'm going to have to use since I don't have an airbrush.

Any other ideas?

Annie

First, I color the fondant, and roll it out into long thick strands. Then, I braid all the colors together, and roll the large braid out flat.
