I'm planning to make a my son a root beer cake for his 10th birthday and wanted to use a vanilla flavored icing. My typical icing recipe that I use uses a combo of vanilla, almond and butter flavoring but more of an almond flavor. Should I just cut out the almond and use more vanilla?

Does anyone have any recipes that they recommend?

Just use vanilla. And I have a pretty heavy hand with vanilla. Use as much as you want... just add a little at a time.
