Is there any way I can take a simple drop cookie recipe and convert it to a roll-out cookie?

You will just need to try it. Drops usually hold their shape, but the cookie may depend on the mound for correct baking. Then you may have some trouble. May I ask why you want to convert? I may have a better suggestion for you.

I wanted to test out different rollout cookie flavors to decorate icon_smile.gif but as you said I guess I just have to try it and let you know icon_smile.gif

Ok. I was thinking you may have wanted to freeze them. Some cookies rise more than others and some crinkle. Even all sugar cookie recipes aren't as flat as others. Good luck with your project. maybe now that you explained, soeone may have better suggestions.

I've done the opposite - taken rolled cookie dough and baked as drop cookies - and have had no problems. My only suggestion if you need the rolled cookies to hold their shape, would be to reduce the leavener in your drop cookie recipe.
