How do I make a mask...masquerade/mardi gras mask? I am trying to make a mask that looks like the top of a jester hat. However, I'm not sure of how to accomplish this icon_redface.gif . Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Pics of what I'm trying to accomplish:

Hi,
Another CC member posted this pic of a cake they made with three or four mardi gras masks,

They explain in the description that they bought plastic masks, covered them in gumpaste.

Hope this helps! Good luck! thumbs_up.gif

Start with a mask form you can get at a local Michaels, HL or JoAnn's shop. I think getting a full face shape might be best.

Roll out your gumpaste and lay on the mask to shape and form to your desired finished product. Then decorate. HTH

I have a phantom of the opera cake with masks. I purchased masks and dusted them with cornstarch. Layed gumpaste over and let them dry for a couple of days. They dried hard I then airbrushed the purple sheen and it worked prefectly. good luck

Dry the basic mask on a plastic one

You will probably have to make the three curly things on top extra and let dry, attach with royal icing when dry
