I live in Australia and have never used Satin Ice before. I need to do some white embossed lace work over ivory icing and was wondering if Satin Ice is whiter than Bakels? Cost of a factor, so would like to get some input before going ahead with Satin Ice. Thank you all in advance.

Having used both Satin Ice and Bakels, I think they are a similar white color. I prefer using Bakels because it's very elastic and doesn't get elephant skin. In fact, I just finished making some tiger lilies with Bakels gumpaste. The whitest fondant I've handled so far is homemade or marshmallow fondant.
