I am making a football helmet. I am having the worst time with making the fondant/gumpaste face mask. I have made it 3 times already. I am wanting to make this without the wire. The gumpaste keeps separating/slightly tearing while setting up on the bowl. Should I try this with just gumpaste alone? I am using MMF with the gumpaste. Could it be my fondant? or should the face mask be rolled out thinly? Searched the cc boards and decided to stop after page 33 of the same types of instructions listed. Many have discussed the same type of problems with their face mask as well. Help please!

I used a plastic bowl so my mask just slide off after it dried. You could tape a piece of wax paper on the side of your bowl if you are having trouble with it sticking.
