Help My Italian Buttercream Please!!!

I have made italian buttercream many times, the recipe calls for unsalted butter, sugar, and egg whites. My problem is that the last time I made it it came out completely different but i did everything the same. The constancy was runny and it was way more shinny than it usually is does anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe the butter was too warm?
