Making an 8in round chocolate cake with fudge filling and chocolate buttercream to frost it. It's a get well cake for my boyfriends step dad. I don't want to use fondant and not sure really how to go about decorating it considering the frostings brown.

Any ideas would be great. [=

A lot of the times we think chocolate icing, oh no I can't do much with it. But really you can. You can use lighter/darker chocolate icing and white to decorate it. Pastel colors really pop on chocolate, as well as some bold colors, depending on how dark your chocolate is.

You can always do a FBCT.

you could do a basketweave on the side, that would gussy it up. Or put some chocolate covered strawberries on top
