I was wondering how everyone puts a center dowel on a stacked fondant cake that has no decorations on top. How do you hide the hole that is made with the dowel? Someone told me that I can't put a center dowel in it but I need it there for transporting it. What does everyone else do?

I would put the center dowel in and travel with the top tier and place the top tier on when you get there. I use SPS so I dont do the center dowel thing anymore. In other words, just make the dowel even with the second tier and place the third tier on when you get there.

Cut a hole in the top tier board. Drive the dowel into the lower tiers leaving a few inches sticking up. Align the hole in the top tier board over the dowel and drop the tier down.
