blue is part of purple (red & blue makes Purple) When I need a certain color like Navy blue ... I start out with a pre-colored blue fondant....then add navy blue color gel to get it to the right color of Navy. I've seen different brands of Blue ... but not Navy...

I'm with platinum lady... If I need a very dark color I usually start with a premade thats closest to what I need to made and add gel color

you need to add black with royal blue to get navy blue.

when i had to cover a cake in navy blue i used the americolor food colouring that was navy blue and i had great results......add a little at a time........until it is close to the colour you would like.....and let it sit for a little bit to see if it is the right colour.....as it is easier to make it darker then lighter later....good luck

I agree, Americolor Navy is awesome!!! I find that it's really hard to get black, red, navy or burgundy using Wilton colours, so I always buy those ones in Americolor.

If you use black, with some royal blue, you should get a nice navy blue. If you look at this cake from my saved photos http://cakecentral.com/gallery/1948007 , you can see the border is a navy blue.

I've gotten the best navy by mixing Americolor navy gel into Satin Ice purple fondant. You don't need much color, so the fondant doesn't get too soft.
