I am doing my father in laws cake for Sunday and it is suppopsed to be a hot one. It is outside. I am doing a chocolate cake but am at a loss for fillings. Help.

I'd just stick with a good old non-perishable buttercream. I use a 1/2 butter, 1/2 shortening that holds up fine in the heat.
