Hi all,

I baked a cake last night (the book pan) so I could fill and crumb coat tonight and decorate thursday night - I need the cake for Friday.

I'm always very diligent about wrapping my cakes after they come out of the oven and keep them on the counter - they are always super moist.

I've been really exhausted this week with long hours at work and needing this cake done - in all that, I forgot to wrap my cake last night before bed.

I've been in tears all morning, do I have to rebake tonight? Is my cake gone? It came out of the oven last night around 10:30pm, and I wrapped it this morning at 7:30am when I realized... my cakes have never sat out on a counter unwrapped for that long before....

Any advice please?

Could you brush it down with a simple syrup and wrap it? I'm not sure but that should help

Did you leave it in the pan or out of the pan?
It's probably OK. I do that a lot.

Just use a wash over the whole thing.

It was out of the pan, on a parchment covered cooling rack....
By wash do you mean like a simple syrup?
