Hi, I am wondering if it is ok to use a mousse filling in a Topsy Turvy cake. Or is it better to use buttercream ? I am going to make my first one this weekend for my grandaughter's B-day.
I think that if you've made a topsy turvy before then it would be okay because it's all about the structural support but since this is your first time maybe, to be on the safe side, stick with buttercream.
I just made one and I had lemon curd as my filling. but as mena said, its all about the supports
Thanks for your input. I have experience with stacked cakes, just have never ventured into the Topsy Turvy yet. I'm sure it's pretty much the same. I watched a really good youtube video showing me how to stack and carve the cake. I am very excited to do this
Well I decided not to do the topsy turvy cake for my grandaughters birthday since I haven't done one before and didn't want to mess up an important cake.I wll try to do one for fun sometime soon. I've attached a picture of the cake I made instead. It was a fun one.
