Hi I am new to cake decorating and wondered if anyone knows of a modelling paste or moulding paste that is sold in Australia that is not made by Cake Art? It seems to be the only one I can find! Is it just me or does anyone else think that it tastes disgusting? Do they all taste this bad? I am scared to put it on my cakes! Ok for figures but i need to cover a cake in flowers - is there an alternative? So many questions!!
You won't find an easier or better flowerpaste than Fran's - she is one of Australia's top decoraters and has just opened her own Cake Decorating School in Melbourne

I use this paste ( Helen Dissell's recipe ) it works well in our humidity, I usually make a double batch and make it in a mixer to the point where you add the tylose.
I find it keeps well in the freezer too.
the paste can be rolled out really thin and has good stretch .
the other premade paste you can use is Menina paste. It is much better than the cake art crap , I often mix their paste with the paste above to extend it a bit and find it gives a good result.

I would suggest making your own. I too find CakeArt products to be awful...their coloured fondant is the WORST, I can *just* use the black, but red and green are terrible.
Hi all from an expatriate Aussie in Vanuatu! I make my own flower modelling paste as I know it works well. I use premade fondant from Kerry Pinnacle in NSW... ( I import in bulk but don't know if they retail.) I need to add extra icing sugar and CMC Tylose because of the high humidity here but it seems to work OK. Better than Cake Art anyway! Bakels is the best premade I have found but it is much more expensive.
Thanks everyone for your advice. I think i will give making it a go! Hopefully i will manage it!
