Doing a 3 tier anniversary cake (12/10/6) white BC with red calla lillies and white roses. Silk flowers btwn top and middle layer under columns. Fondant flowers for the "topper" on the top tier.

QUESTION: thinking of decorating the sides of each tier with red fondant hearts, on large one and smaller ones on either side of it, then a white shell or rope border. What do you think? Will the hearts on the side take away from the cake and make it look, for lack of a better word, childish?

I think the hearts may be too much with the flowers. I would probably try something a little more subtle - like heart imprints or an impression mat. Or you could do little RI hearts in white. OR you could do little dots or a dot impression mat. Then give it a nice sheen by painting with vodka and lustre dust. Either shell or rope border would probably look good too...
