Can I start baking early? Do I need to freeze the cake if I start early? When should I start frosting??? Please help me/point me in the right direction. ARe there any tutorials on this site iwth how to make a cake like this? Greatly appreciate any suggestions!! Thanks!

Hi,
I made a Thomas the Train Cake. The mom provided me with a "birthday" Thomas. Since I am a beginner I don't mold or scuplt things.
If the cake is eaten on a Saturday. I bake on Thursday. I make the icing on Thursday. Then I decorate on Friday (then I have the day).
I hope that helps!
