Hi All,

Need to make fondant/gumpaste cocktail onions. Anyone have suggestions on how to make sure they don't just look like white balls?

Much thanks!

Anyone know how to get a semi translucent effect? Cocktail onions aren't pue white, but sort if whiteish clear color..

I wonder if you dipped it in gelatin if it would give you the look you want. Or possibly give it a very thin coat of pipin gel?

Steaming them (with a steam iron or a clothes steamer) will give them a glossy look that might give the impression of translucence. Just practice a little first so you don't melt them with the steam!

Can you use overlapping sheet of gelatin. You can make a small ball of white fondant and make small squares or rounds of gelatin sheets and place over the fondant ball.

This is just something that came to mind when I saw your post, not something that I've done myself, so i'm not sure of the effect you will get.
