So I would like to try to replicate the bottom portion of this cake (the bottom 3 or 4 layers). My question is, how do I go about laying the fondant to look like a dress without it breaking apart or cracking???

Advice??

I would do it the silicone mat method. Put a thin layer of shortening on the mat (I have the blue wilton ones) roll it out like you normally would. When you go to put it on the cake pick the whole mat up and place where you want on the cake, then pull the mat away from the fondant. Since it stays on the mat it won't dry out and since you're not trying to carry a large piece by hand it won't rip or tear. Hope that helps you out! icon_smile.gif
