I have a cake tasting in the morning, my first. I am wondering if anyones decorates it at all. I was planning on just torting and frosting it, no decorations.

There are a lot of threads on cake tasting. Many of them in the business forum.

When I do tastings I offer 3 or 4 flavors of cake. I put the cake on the plate along with 2 or 3 fillings on the side as well as some frosting. This allows the client to mix and match the different flavors and fillings to see what combinations they like.

If you are only making one cake then I would not decorate. I would have pictures of your work available so that the client can see your decorating abilities.

I agree with CakesbyCathy, I have cake, filling and icing samples separate so that the client can mix and match flavors. It is a cake tasting not a demonstration of your skill. Have photos of your work, and if you have a decorated cake dummy, show that off.
