Hi,

I have an idea for a concept of a new design of cupcakes I want to do, but I need to make a convincing, good quality gold icing suitable for piping with a fine nozzle. However I've never made a metallic icing before.

I've done several searches online, with conflicting advice being offered.

Do I make royal icing with something like Sugarflair Autumn Leaf (gold), or Americolour Gold Gel Paste? Will that give me enough lustre? The detailing is going to be too fine to apply lustre dust with a brush.

I don't want it to be a buttercream, or sticky finish, as I want it to be capable of enduring transportation when complete.

Any advice is very gratefully received.

Thanks!
