How To Make Cake Tator Tots?

My next cake I am making is going to have tator tots on it....how the heck would I make those so they look real? I thinking maybe rice cereal molded into little tator tot shapes then covered in fondant...? I need some suggestions! This is a tricky one, at least for me! lol Thanks! icon_biggrin.gif

I think the RCT would be the way to go - since tatertots are lumpy and bumpy the RCTs would give the perfect texture!

That's what I was thinking...should I cover in fondant and maybe airbrush?

yes, that is what I would do since they aren't one solid color... they are lighter in the little nooks and crannies and darker on the spots that were on the outside edges!
