Hi Everyone:

I was just wondering about the advantages and disadvantages of plastic icing tips versus metal icing tips. If I was to invest in a set would which would you recommend and why?

Thanks in advance.

I bought a few plastic icing tips in sizes 1 & 2 because I got sick of metal (Ateco brand) ones rusting - I thought they would solve all my problems, BUT they were awful! The tips were not perfectly moulded/cut, so the openings were not perfectly round, which meant the icing wouldn't pipe out correctly - it would pipe out at slightly 'off' angles, making them awful to use. I threw them out in the end and went back to metal.

Note: The ones I had trouble with were small sizes, for fine piping - I do have some plastic tips in large sizes (ie the ones you would pipe a cupcake swirl with) and they are fine.

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer! If you want to do something well, it's worth the money for good equipment.
