I have decided to stop baking just as a hobby and I\\'m in the process of starting a home-based business. I wanted to know from you home bakers on a base/post what things should I do before my inspection. What areas should I pay particular attention to? What were the issues you faced and how did you resolve them when you first started? What should I expect? How long did it take before you were able to start taking orders.
Thanks so much in advanced.
Lala,
I don't know where you are located so this may not apply. I am overseas and just started doing it on my own, there are no constraints. If there were, then all of us cake decorators would be in a heap of trouble. I would think that if you are Stateside, it doesn't matter if you are on a military installation the same rules/laws apply to your State. Just my thoughts though. Hope that helped.
Have you talked to your base commander? It's hard to say because it depends on what branch that you are in so that you can find out who governs you.
Thanks guys. Yes I'm waiting on the commander's approval right now. I was told that since we live on federal property that state laws do not apply. I have to be inspected by public health and I just wanted to have a heads up. Thanks for responding guys.
Congratulations on your future business.
I also would like to thank y'all for your military service.
